Ovulation Induction (OI) & Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI)

Ovulation induction is a fertility option used for women who are not ovulating regularly (commonly seen in women with PCOS). It aims to mimic natural fertility by producing one dominant follicle using a variety of medications, including Clomiphene Citrate, Metformin, Letrozole or FSH.

Monitoring your cycle with Cycle Tracking will ensure there is only 1 dominant follicle and confirm spontaneous or assisted ovulation.

At the time of ovulation, either timed intercourse or IUI can be used to ensure sperm is available in sufficient numbers to maximise fertilisation and ongoing pregnancy. IUI involves collecting a sperm sample, processing the sample in the laboratory which results in an optimal concentration of sperm.

This sperm is then inserted into the uterus via a fine catheter, optimising the concentration of sperm at the time of ovulation.
